Popular Lecture Series

The lecture series on the topics based on biotechnology, Ayurvedic medicine, ancient Indian history and technology are organized on April 23, 2023 at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur, funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

Dr. Anant Narayan Bhatt, senior scientist of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has said that personalized medicine can show a new path to the medical system of the future. He was addressing the lecture series on integration of Ayurveda medicine with the coordinated efforts of science and technology as the keynote speaker. They give the lecture on topic “human genome sequencing in personalized medicine is an indicator of the timely strengthening of the medical system in accordance with the changing needs.” Ayurveda will have to be ready to play a big and important role in making personalized medicine the medical system of the future. He said that the utility of human genome sequencing can provide a new path to the future medical system. In his lecture, Dr. Bhatt informed everyone about the benefits of Ayurveda. He said that the stomach is the second brain of the human body and the imbalance of Vata, Kapha and Pitta is the cause of disease. The regulation of Vata, Kapha and Pitta is very important to avoid diseases. He related to Ayurveda Highlighted the importance of opening Panchakarma centers at various places in the country with emphasis on innovation for startups. Dr. Bhatt also discussed germ theory and terrain theory in the diagnosis of disease.

In the second lecture, Dr. Venkatnarayan Ramanathan, Professor of the Department of Chemistry at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), introducing everyone to the role and diversity of chemistry in ancient Indian history and technology, he said that the medical system described in the Indian Vedic and ancient texts is the same basis of modern medicine. He said that the ancient tradition of gold identification is still being used as the gold standard technique. He mentioned India's ancient contribution in refining many metals like copper and zinc, which were also adopted by foreign civilizations to serve their purposes. Dr. Ramanathan inspired the people to stay connected to their ancient culture. Also, emphasis was laid on including ancient texts in the curriculum. In another lecture, Prof. Sunil Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, highlighted the importance of integration of biotechnology in Ayurveda.

In the third session, in the auditorium of Guru Shri Gorakshanath College of Nursing of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur, Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh addressed the students on the topic 'Integration of Biotechnology in Ayurveda'. Pro. Sunil Kumar Singh said that Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system which has been in practice for thousands of years. It is a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes balance between mind, body and spirit.

Interest in integration of biotechnology into Ayurveda in recent years Biotechnology involves the use of living organisms or their components to create products and services that improve human health. This integration may bring new opportunities for research and development in the field of Ayurveda. A major benefit of integrating biotechnology into Ayurveda is the development of new medicines and treatments. Biotechnology can help identify new active compounds from plants and other natural sources and use these compounds in more Can be used to make effective and safe medicines. Additionally, biotechnology can help in the development of new diagnostic tools and personalized treatments, which can improve patient outcomes and reduce health care costs.

On December 15, 2023, CM Yogi was presiding over the inaugural session of the three-day national seminar organized under the joint auspices of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in collaboration with Translation Biomedical Research Society.

At the inauguration of the seminar 'BioNatureCon-2023' on the topic of discovery from natural products, the Chief Minister said that due to neutrality towards innovation and research, India has lagged behind and the educational institutions have been limited to distributing degrees. However, reform efforts have been made in this direction in the last nine years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and good results are now visible.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that traditional medicine from natural resources is India's gift to the world. In the present times, he stressed on the mutual coordination between many departments to take it forward and said that with the mutual coordination of many departments like Ayurveda, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Agriculture, medicine from natural resources can reach a new height. He said that people associated with agriculture can make a big contribution in the field of making medicines from natural resources.

The Chief Minister said that along with focusing on the quality of medicines made from natural resources, full attention will also have to be paid to packaging. He said that giving Ayurvedic medicine in bundles does not give confidence to the patient whereas the same medicine in the form of tablets increases his confidence. Medicines will have to be prepared and packed accordingly. CM Yogi said that the government is building a pharma park on two thousand acres in Lalitpur. Along with this, work is also going on at a fast pace on developing the Medical Device Park. Describing data collection as the need of the present time, the Chief Minister said that doctors and nurses should collect various data related to patients and make it the basis for big research. During the national seminar The Chief Minister also shared his experience of encephalitis control. Told that from 1977 to 2017, about 50 thousand children died due to encephalitis. In Japan, the vaccine for this was made only in 1905, whereas in India the vaccine became available in 2005, its production was also much less than the demand. The Chief Minister said that against the population of about three crores in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, only one lakh doses of encephalitis vaccine were being received. The Chief Minister said that after taking over the command of the state in 2017, the pain of forty years was removed in four years by making the Health Department the nodal one and due to inter-departmental coordination among many departments. This model of encephalitis control was also useful in the successful management of Corona and Corona management of UP was appreciated everywhere.
