Department overview

The Department of medical Microbiology under the allied health sciences forms a key component of the university. The department is composed of dynamic faculty members who are actively engaged in knowledge creation and dissemination at the frontiers of the medical Microbiology. The discipline has an encompassing effect on the biological and medical sciences and is therefore considered a central science. Knowledge and skills in medical Microbiology play a crucial role in finding the solutions to most of the challenges (eg. Infectious disease) faced by mankind today. The department believes in an interdisciplinary approach to learning and fosters a culture of excellence. The postgraduate program, M.Sc. medical Microbiology, was launched in the year 2022. The Ph.D. program was started in the year 2024 and it is going on quite well with the recent augmentation of research infrastructure in the department. With these ongoing program, the department envisages scaling greater heights and producing globally competent medical Microbiologists and scientists who can solve the pressing problems of the nation.
